Dominik Mysterio is a wrestler who is attracting more attention every day, thanks to his impressive skills and the fact that he is the son of WWE superstar Rey Mysterio

In an interview with Chris Van Vliet, Dominik reflected on various moments in his career, focusing particularly on his debut match against Seth Rollins. Debuting is never easy, regardless of one’s confidence and abilities. However, Dominik handled it extremely well and impressed the audience at the start of his wrestling career.

This young wrestler acknowledged that the experience was completely different from anything else and expressed gratitude to WWE officials for the opportunity. Dominik mentioned that his father was not optimistic about his debut, yet he showed him a different perspective.

What makes this 27-year-old different from his peers is the fact that he always likes to listen to more experienced, older people and absorb knowledge from them. As a kid, he had the chance to follow his father's work, analyze, and gain knowledge for himself. His debut as well as the continuation of his career showed that the 27-year-old Mysterio really paid attention to every detail.

"It’s definitely different than everyone else. I’m super thankful for the opportunities because something like that doesn’t come very often. I remember specifically my dad telling me he didn’t think I was ready. I don’t know if it was because he just had never seen me in the ring, I don’t know what it was, but I knew that I wasn’t going to get presented with another opportunity, at least like this. So I jumped on it right away. I knew what I could do and I’m a good listener, so I knew I could attempt to hold my own with one of the best.”- Dominik Mysterio said, as quoted by Pwmania.

Dominik Mysterio explained that not having fans during his debut match wasn’t difficult for him because he had no prior experience to compare it to. He stressed that he never worked in independent wrestling, so his training experiences at Lance Storm's academy or back home were always without an audience, just with other students present.

His career began in a very strange period not only for the world of wrestling but also for the entire planet in general. Maybe it was a relief for him, but Dominik later showed that he was doing great regardless of whether the fans were there or not. His resilience and energy are truly an example for everyone around him.

The last time he performed in front of a crowd was when he was eight years old with Eddie Guerrero, and prior to that, he had a brief experience with CM Punk at age eleven. Since he hadn’t experienced performing for a large audience recently, he didn’t have a different perspective on what it should feel like.

Dominik Mysterio on being CM Punk's opponent

Dominik Mysterio described the experience of being CM Punk's opponent in his first match back as "kind of crazy." He admitted that he didn’t expect to be chosen for the role, especially considering the abundance of talented wrestlers on the current RAW and SmackDown rosters.

However, it is clear that WWE executives and people around him noticed the wealth of talent and quality he has, and did not doubt that Dominik was the right person for such a role. What is also great is that Dominik did not betray the trust placed in him

27-year-old felt honored that WWE officials trusted him to compete with Punk after a ten-year absence. Dominik expressed his gratitude for the opportunity, saying he was glad to be part of such a powerful moment and to give Punk his first punch in the ring upon his return.

The son of a great legend of this sport marked the moment with CM Punk as special, considering that WWE showed him confidence in an important moment. CM Punk is a person with whom he is well acquainted, and he knew what he could expect from a match with him. Having such an opponent is not at all a simple matter, taking into account all the factors. Dominik showed that he is not afraid of anyone, and is ready to stand in the ring with anyone.

“It was special because I knew the company trusted me with things like that. I wasn’t aware of it until I kind of got pulled aside and was like, Hey, how do you feel about working CM Punk for the live events tour? I was like, Bring it on, let’s go. I was excited. I was ready for it because I knew it was another opportunity and another challenge for me, so I was excited to cross another one off the list.”- Dominik Mysterio said.
