Diego Lopes has flawlessly performed in the past few months and his hard efforts have comfortably placed him in the title picture. The top-tier contender prefers having two options for himself: to either be the backup fighter for the upcoming featherweight title fight (UFC308 – 26th October) or to directly fight Alexander Volkanovski next in December.

Diego Lopez maps out his road
In a recent interview with MMA Fighting, Diego Lopez shared his thoughts on what he plans to do for his next fight.
"We’d like the possibility of fighting Volkanovski in December. He doesn’t like to wait, and neither do I, so that could be a good fight. A lot can happen, but I think the two most viable options for us right now are being the backup fighter in Abu Dhabi, or fighting Volkanovski in December.
The UFC is aware that I’m available for [UFC 308], so it depends on what they want to do”.
Crazy to think that Diego Lopes would’ve had a 30 second KO had he not followed up with that left that woke Ortega up.
