After already strengthening the starting five and the second line, the Denver Nuggets decided to further strengthen the professional team. Teammates and fans can be satisfied because the club from Colorado hired Jared Dudley, a former NBA player and current assistant, who is known as a great supporter of Luka Doncic in Dallas, writes ESPN.
Dudley finished his NBA career in 2021, after 14 seasons on the floors of the strongest league in the world. He played for several famous teams, including Charlotte, Phoenix, Los Angeles Clippers, Milwaukee, Washington, Brooklyn and finally the Los Angeles Lakers, with whom he won a championship ring in the famous "bubble" in 2020.
Dudley's role in Denver and his relationship with Luka Dončić
After hanging up his sneakers, Dudley did not leave basketball, but decided to contribute as an assistant coach. He joined Dallas, where he became a key part of Jason Kidd's team, with whom he had previously worked as a teammate. His experience, understanding of the game and excellent communication with the players earned him great respect.
He is especially appreciated because of his close relationship with the young Slovenian talent Luka Dončić. He helps him not only in the technical and tactical sense, but also as a mentor in overcoming the mental and emotional challenges that come with the status of an NBA star. He is known for the fact that he often works individually with the players and that he rarely leaves the hall as long as the sound of the ball is heard in it. His calmness and authority make him an ideal addition to a team that has big ambitions and wants to win titles.
The changes in Denver came shortly after owners, the Krenki family, decided to fire general manager Calvin Booth and coach Michael Malone. After the defeat in the semifinals of the Western Conference against the Oklahoma City Thunder, Nikola Jokić emphasized in his address to the media how important the length of the bench is.
The answer to that came quickly – within just two days, Denver brought in Cameron Johnson, Jonas Valanciunas, Bruce Brown and Tim Hardaway Jr. Now they have received another reinforcement, which may not have much publicity, but will quietly be a great support for this team.
