Denny Hamlin surely can’t be happy about the fact that this year he might miss his chance to win the championship again. This time, Hamlin commented on the current happenings and explained his motivation to win the NASCAR Cup Series. The seasoned NASCAR figure admitted he will give his all and try to secure a victory. His main goal is to achieve many feats, but winning the championship is definitely his top priority. Danny revealed that he would love to have that success mainly for himself and his family, who are eagerly waiting to see him at the top.
“I’m just going to do the best that I can, and try to go and get as many wins as I can before my career is over. That’s ultimately the list that I really, really care about, because the drivers that are in it are just the most elite. So, that’s my goal, and I’ve got plenty of time to get to the accomplishments that I want, and a Cup championship would just add to that,” Hamlin said, as quoted by On3.
“I mean, certainly would be such a big deal for me, my family. I want it for my dad, I’ve said it many times, I want it for my family and friends, as much as I want it for me."
He said that he’s going to be fine no matter what happens, and he’ll be okay regardless of the outcome.
Jordan Bianchi reacts
On The Teardown podcast, Jordan Bianchi from The Athletic talked about how the veteran driver can win the championship. He explained that they definitely have a chance to win. He mentioned that they could easily win at Talladega or Kansas, and that wouldn’t surprise anyone. In Round Three, they could win at any of the three tracks; Vegas, Homestead, or Martinsville, and they can definitely win at Phoenix too. Bianchi stresses that they have a shot at the championship.
Many believe that Hamlin's experience could be crucial in the upcoming races and a reason why his team might end up at the top. Looking at the names and fierce competition this season, just like in previous ones, it’s hard to say if the experienced driver really has the potential to achieve such a result.
Jordan also pointed out that they might be a bit unlucky and that their finishes haven’t matched their speed. He stressed that they aren’t performing at the same level as earlier in the year. However, he emphasized that this team is still very strong. While being consistent is important and helps them advance, this team is also capable of winning a race. If they need to do that, Bianchi believes they will.
All eyes are on Denny Hamlin, just like in many seasons before, as everyone expects him to succeed. The experienced NASCAR driver will need to give his best and use all his skills and potential to achieve that success. Denny Hamlin on Bristol race
Denny Hamlin knew what he could expect before the last race in Bristol.
This great driver mentioned that the inside position on the restart wasn’t ideal and that he just didn’t have the short-run speed he needed. Hamlin said, “I struggled all weekend to have the short-run speed to really compete well. I’m not sure if it was setup changes or if I just didn’t push hard enough. It could be a mix of things, but overall, I think... There was a time when I got to third and then second during a long run.”
He also noted that Kyle Larson was about 10-12 car lengths ahead, and while Larson was getting held up in traffic, Hamlin didn’t feel like he had what it took to catch up.
Such things often kill the drive and passion that a driver like him needs. However, Hamlin is aware of how important it is to stay patient and believe in himself, even when many things seem to be working against him.
We will see if the experienced driver can really succeed.
