Daniel Ricciardo's future is still a big mystery after he ended his adventure with Red Bull. The popular Australian had several plans, and being part of Red Bull was one of them. However, Red Bull decided to choose Liam Lawson as his replacement.
The latest rumors are particularly interesting for both F1 fans and NASCAR fans. Namely, some media outlets are reporting that Ricciardo could continue his adventure in NASCAR. His statements from a few years ago especially deepen such rumors.
The popular Australian driver then stressed that he has always been a huge fan of NASCAR and motorsport. Although F1 has always been his dream, NASCAR is also an option that he has been thinking about for a long time.
“As a kid I loved motorbikes, I loved NASCAR,” he said, as quoted by f1oversteer.
“But F1, that was the fastest-circuit car in the world. That’s really why I got into Formula 1. I wanted to try and see if I could be the best in the world.
Picturing myself on the top step of an F1 podium – I had visualised that feeling since I was a kid. To be world champion would mean the world to me.”
It is not known how interested Daniel is at this point in terms of his future in F1, but there is one interesting option for him. Namely, Daniel could return to F1, competing for the Cadillac team, but starting in 2026. The leaders of this team are aware that his experience and qualities could be crucial for their beginnings on the F1 scene, but we will see what the future holds.
We have no doubt that many are standing in line for his signature, aware of how important a name he has been in the F1 scene for years. Although his form has not been satisfactory, Ricciardo is a quality driver who has the potential to do great things wherever he is.
