Jorge Masvidal is quite serious about reversing his retirement decision. He last met Nate Diaz for a boxing clash and faced a close majority decision loss. Jorge Masvidal is currently on a 5 match-losing streak (counting MMA and boxing fights).

Jorge Masvidal mentioned his plans to return back to the UFC. Daniel Cormier is against this idea and bluntly explains how it’s irrelevant for Jorge Masvidal to get back into the cage. Cormier backs his opinion by highlighting Masvidal’s losing streak and PPV salability.

Jorge Masvidal wants to fight Leon Edwards in his UFC return:

"He's [Leon Edwards] 0-1 against me. What are we talking about... Let's fight later this year or next year... After I'll knock his a** out, guess what, they [UFC] will give me a title shot."

Daniel Cormier on Jorge Masvidal’s MMA return

In a recent YouTube video, Daniel Cormier explained why he feels Jorge Masvidal’s aspirations to return are irrelevant.

“Nate looked pretty good that night, and I thought he won that fight, but then Masvidal starts to talk about fighting mixed martial arts again,” Cormier said, as quoted by mmajunkie.usatoday.com. “Look at the names on his resume, at the end of the day, when you look at the career as a whole, it boils down to one year where Jorge Masvidal made you guys care, and it made him a star.

But my question to you now is, do you still care? Because that’s what he’s banking on, right? He’s 39 years old. He has lost his last four MMA fights. He lost a boxing match”.

Daniel Cormier on Jorge Masvidal’s relevance in 2024

“He said he will come back, starch somebody, and the UFC would be begging him to fight for a championship.

My question to you is, do you care now? Do you care like you did in 2019? Do you care like you did when he was on that amazing run where he made himself from a guy that was middling, from a guy that was a bit of a journeyman, into a main event attraction? Him and Kamaru Usman sold a boatload of pay-per-views.

But do you care today, in 2024, to see Jorge Masvidal come back and fight someone?”.
