Daniel Cormier believes if either Jon Jones or Stipe Miocic gets injured, the fight will get called off, and Tom Aspinall won’t be asked to fulfill his position as the heavyweight backup fighter. Aspinall has showcased enough dominance in his recent performances to qualify a discussion of a title shot.
Apart from that, Jones and Miocic are on the verge of retirement. Chances are high for Tom Aspinall to fight for the belt once it’s vacated.
“I will retire Jon Jones without even fighting him”.

Daniel Cormier on Jon Jones & Stipe Miocic fighting Tom Aspinall
Recently on the show Good Guy/Bad Guy, Daniel Cormier explained under what circumstance he feels Jon Jones or Stipe Miocic wouldn't fight Tom Aspinall.
“If one of those dudes gets hurt, neither one of them is fighting Tom Aspinall,” Cormier said as quoted by mmafighting.com. “You’re out of your mind. No way. When Jon Jones got hurt the first time, Sergei Pavlovich was the backup fighter.
Who fought?! If somebody gets hurt, get ready for Tom Aspinall vs. Ciryl Gane. Mark my words”.
Daniel Cormier on the chances of Tom Aspinall vs Stipe Miocic
“Jon Jones vs. Tom Aspinall is more likely to happen if Stipe Miocic wins, that’s my take.
If Stipe wins and Jones loses and feels like he has something to prove, it’s more likely that he fights Tom Aspinall. If he wins, he’ll go off into the sunset”.
