The former UFC lightweight champion Charles Oliveira is one of the few people who wants to see Tony Ferguson continue fighting in the UFC. Even die-hard fans have urged their idol to call it quits – Tony Ferguson did announce “half-retirement” but he still desires to make a return.

Oliveira feels Ferguon’s wish should be granted and if not young thriving contenders, he feels Tony should at least get fights with people that fall under his age group. 8 daunting losing match streak! Faith is known to reverse the unreversible – it will be interesting to see if El Cucuy can break out of the losing streak with a mighty win.

Charles Oliveira on Tony Ferguson

In a recent interview, Charles Oliveira explained how Tony Ferguson should be allowed to fight.

“He deserves all the respect in the world just to be fighting still, he deserves a standing ovation for everything he’s done in the UFC,” Oliveira said, as quoted by mmafighting.com. “But I think the UFC should also give him some help and put him against someone [around his age] so they can put on a show and we applaud them.

The guy doesn’t want to retire, he’s there, so why not get someone with the same vibe to put on a big fight? That would be great, but to put these young kids, kids coming in hungry for attention over a big name like him, that’s a bit complicated.

It sucks. The guy has a certain age, and you put him against young kids to fight him? That hurts him a little bit”.

Tony Ferguson confirms he is NOT retiring despite 8 consecutive losses since May 2020.

“We’re coming back hard, either January or February… I’m too old to retire.
