Ferrari, like many teams this season, has shown inconsistency in their performances. At times, they look like a squad capable of competing for the top spots, while in other moments, they seem far from the dominant team we’ve seen in the past. The upcoming race in Singapore will be a critical opportunity for the team to showcase their potential, and all eyes will be on Carlos Sainz Jr., especially since he is set to leave the team at the end of the season.

In a recent media interview, Sainz reflected on his career and shared his experiences racing in Singapore, discussing what he expects from this race. He is well aware that the street circuit presents special challenges, particularly in terms of tire management and strategy. The pressure is on, as Ferrari looks to recapture some of its former glory.

Historically, Ferrari has been home to some legendary names, from Michael Schumacher to Fernando Alonso, who have defined eras of success. As the team aims to find its ground, it’s essential to remember those high points and what made Ferrari one of the best teams in Formula 1. The fans, while important, are not the only ones invested; the team is eager to go in the right direction. The Singapore race could be a defining moment in their journey back to the top.

“I know what it takes to win around here. I know all the tricks. I know everything I have to do to win, so I just need to try and repeat it.

(The challenge is) doing a full qualifying lap and putting the lap together on one of the toughest tracks. The tyres tend to struggle a lot through the lap with the heat, and the heat is also tough for the driver. It’s a long race – two hours – and it takes physical fitness and concentration.”- he said, as quoted by Straits Times.

To prepare for the Singapore Grand Prix, Carlos Sainz began cycling two to four days a week in August, complemented by two to three days of strength training in sunny Majorca. He focused on replicating the heat and humidity typical of Singapore to ensure he was well-prepared.

The 30-year-old driver has made it clear how much he loves the Ferrari team and what he’s willing to do for it. However, it seems that the team’s management doesn’t share the same level of confidence in him. Rather than letting this lack of trust hold him back, Sainz sees it as motivation to prove them wrong.

The next race in Singapore presents an ideal opportunity for him to silence critics and those who doubt his capabilities. With the unique challenges of the circuit, he has the chance to showcase his talent and determination. If he can deliver a strong performance, it could not only reaffirm his skills but also strengthen his position within the team.

Sainz emphasized the importance of adapting his training to the specific conditions of the upcoming race. He stressed that cycling in temperatures around 35-36 degrees Celsius helped him acclimatize to Singapore. Additionally, he highlighted the need to maintain muscle fitness, flexibility, and mobility to cope with the physical demands of the season, especially given the extensive travel involved. This approach reflects his commitment to staying in top shape as he tackles the challenges ahead.

Carlos Sainz on Charles Leclerc

The Spaniard shared that he and Charles Leclerc have built a solid relationship over the past four years. He mentioned that even though they are both competitive, they’ve managed to keep things mature and professional.

Together, they have helped Ferrari achieve a lot of success, bringing in plenty of points and race wins. This partnership allows them to fight against each other while still supporting one another, which is vital for their performance as a team.

From the very beginning of their partnership, it was clear that there was never any bad blood between these two great F1 drivers. They have always wanted to keep the team spirit strong and maintain harmony within the team. They share a great relationship, which is reflected not only in their words but also in the results they achieve together.

Their positive dynamic seems to fuel their performances on the track, allowing them to push each other while still supporting one another. This kind of collaboration is essential for any successful team.

From the next season, Leclerc will form a partnership with Lewis Hamilton, who will become part of Ferrari. We will see what dynamics and relations will prevail between the experienced Hamilton and the great Leclerc. Experience and youth could be a great combination.
