After Tyson Fury lost for the second time against Oleksandr Usyk, his voice was not heard too much. The only time he spoke was when he announced his retirement from professional boxing, which was, in fact, the last thing he said about his future in the sport.
Many were skeptical of Fury's statement as similar announcements have been made in the past, but former boxer Carl Froch has his own take on the whole situation. According to him, there is a deeper reason why the 35-year-old Fury retired from the ring.
"Fury retired because he knows deep down that his best days are over. He lost twice to Usyk, and personally I think he is very angry now. I talked to someone from his team and I know he is very frustrated because of that loss in the rematch. But he has to admit – Usyk deservedly won," said Froch on his YouTube channel.
Carl Froch: Fury can't really complain about that fight
"Although the fight was close, it wasn't exciting. It wasn't like the first one, where there were moments of excitement. Not much happened. Fury can't really complain about that fight other than the fact that he just didn't show up," Froch added.
Despite his frustration over the loss, it's possible that Fury will be out of the ring for a while. Although he has retired, it's not impossible that we will see him in the ring again, once the anger and disappointment phase has passed. There could be a few more challenging heavyweight fights for him, so while he may not be challenging for the title again, he could still have a few quality fights ahead of him. Joshua is one of those fighters who has been mentioned in the context of potential Fury fights.
It's hard to give a real answer to what awaits us in the future.
