Caleb Plant can foresee the bigger picture in which he gets a rematch opportunity with Canelo. The highly-anticipated clash between Caleb Plant and Trevor McCumby was all set to take place on 17th August, but McCumby’s eye cut forced matchmakers to defer it to a later date.
The new date is yet to be announced. Caleb Plant needs a comprehensive victory as that would not only add a belt to the collection but strengthen his chances and place him in a better position to secure a rematch with the Canelo.
For now, Plant’s immediate focus remains on securing the WBA interim title by beating Trevor McCumby.

Caleb Plant on fighting McCumby
Recently, on Cigar Talk, Caleb Plant shared his thoughts on the possibility of having a rematch with Canelo.
“With the WBA interim [168-lb] title on the line and [regular super middleweight champion] David Morrell moving up to 175, there’s a good chance the winner [of Trevor McCumby-Plant fight], me, being elevated to WBA ‘regular’ champ,” Plant said as quoted by boxingnews24.com.
“Canelo has a WBA World title. So, if you can do the math on that, it’s going to put me in a good spot, right now, my full attention is on the task in front of me [McCumby],”.
