Brazilian legend, Ronaldo Nazario, was not impressed by Cristiano Ronaldo's recent statement in which he claimed that he is the best football player of all time. The Portuguese recently placed himself ahead of all the greats like Lionel Messi, Diego Maradona and Pele, declaring himself the best in the history of football. Although the successes of Ronaldo in Manchester United and Real Madrid are indisputable, as well as the title of European champion with Portugal, the Brazilian believes that he did not deserve this title.
Although the Portuguese scored 925 goals during his career, which is still going on at 40 years old, Ronaldo Nazario is not convinced by his claim. Nazario, known for his unique style of play, points out that Ronaldo has an impressive career, but believes that he is not the best of all time.
"I don't like to get into these kinds of discussions, I think people often value themselves too much. I like when people talk about what I achieved and who I was, not when people talk only about themselves," said the Brazilian.
Ronaldo talks about Cristiano
Although he admits that Ronaldo is a fantastic player, he does not share the opinion that he is the best. Nazario believes that Pele is undoubtedly number one, and Messi and Maradona deserve to be together at the top. Zico, Romario, Van Basten, Zidane, Figo, Rivaldo, Ronaldinho are also among the legends who have made football special.
"Every time I am asked about this ranking, I make a different list, but these first three positions are always the same," concluded the Brazilian.
The Portuguese, on the other hand, claims that numbers are not the most important factor in his career, emphasizing that he is the most complete footballer ever. His versatility in the game, whether it is heading, free kicks, or using both feet, is also something that sets him apart.
However, everyone is entitled to their opinion.
