WWE Hall of Famer Bully Ray recently shared his thoughts on John Cena during one of his guest appearances, highlighting the high expectations fans have for the incredible wrestler to turn heel. Ray admitted that he couldn't have predicted such an outcome, but at the same time he is aware that this is something that has completely shocked everyone in the wrestling world. Although many fans did not expect this change, Ray believes that it could be exactly what WWE needs to enrich the product and create additional dynamics on screen.
Ray is convinced that this move will be a huge step for Cena, but also for the entire WWE community, as it will give fans the opportunity to see a completely new side of one of the biggest names in history. Cena, who has long been the symbol of the good guy, will now try his hand at the role of the villain, which will certainly be extremely interesting for everyone who follows this sport.
“I understand why you think it’s so shocking and everybody thinks it’s shocking, but I’m not shocked by it because it’s such damn good business. It’s not shocking to me; it’s awesome. I didn’t think they would turn John Cena heel during his retirement tour because I don’t know how that makes the maximum amount of money.”- he said, as quoted by Pwmania.
Bully Ray explains WWE today
Bully Ray explains that in today's WWE environment, it's not necessarily such a big deal if John Cena isn't around every day, as it was in the past. When Cena was active at every show and performing regularly, his presence was key to filling arenas and generating merchandising revenue. However, Ray feels that now, given the modern situation and the development of the brand, WWE is no longer just dependent on John to generate those revenues.
Today, WWE is a much broader brand that uses different platforms and strategies to maintain and grow its popularity.
