In the second quarter of the first game of the NBA Western Conference semifinals between Minnesota and Golden State, Stephen Curry, the star of the San Francisco club, was injured.
During the second quarter, Curry got up from the dribble to take a three-point shot. He made the shot, landed, and then, without making contact with his opponent, grabbed the back of his left foot. He spent another minute limping on the court and then left the game, moving to the locker room, not entering again during the game.
In 13 minutes, Curry scored 13 points in his team's 99:88 victory, which 'stolen' the home court advantage from Minnesota.
"We'll know more after Curry has an MRI and all the additional tests, but I think we have to prepare for the second game in which we will definitely be without him. With injuries like these, it's crazy to expect him to be fully ready in two days," said Golden State coach Steve Kerr.
Jimmy Butler injury
During the series against Houston, Golden State dealt with an injury to Jimmy Butler, another key player for the team. Although it was thought that he would be out for much longer due to a coccyx injury, Butler only missed one game. Golden State hopes that a similar scenario could happen with Curry, the best long-range shooter in the NBA of all time.
This is a big blow for the team, considering that Curry is the main player of this team and generally one of the best basketball players in the league. Fans hope that the experienced basketball player will return to the NBA courts as soon as possible, considering that he will be an important link for them in the rest of the season.
Curry is the profile of a basketball player that every team would love to have on their roster.
Golden State will now have to continue without him, but it is clear that this team has the potential to do great things even when Steph is not around.
