The UFC seems to be putting on more and more events that don't attract much attention at first glance, at least when you look at the fighters on paper. The recent event, led by Marvin Vettori and Roman Dolidze, is a good example of such events. Although the fighters may not be so well known, the event itself was quite exciting, which shows that even fights without big names can produce great attention and enthusiasm.

However, many believe that there is something that could make such events even more interesting and impressive. The biggest problem that is often pointed out is the location of the UFC's "Fight Night" events. One of the harshest critics of this situation is Renato Moicano, a UFC veteran and current No. 10 contender in the lightweight division. Moicano believes that the UFC Apex in Las Vegas is not an ideal place to hold such events.

Moicano's criticism of UFC Apex

Moicano stated on his YouTube channel that while some matches were exciting and filled with knockouts and "submissions", the atmosphere at Apex alone was not enough to create a real dynamic. He believes that Apex is not the right space to create a lot of excitement because it is too small and too focused on fighters coming through the Contender Series.

Also, the UFC doesn't pay to rent the venue, which makes these events cheaper, but also less exciting for spectators.

Moicano points out that fighters like Carlos Vera, who defeated Josias Musasa, will not get real attention and recognition because such matches have no real importance. The events at Apex do not bring the necessary change for the fighters, and not for the UFC.

Why the UFC should reduce the number of events in Apex

Although the Apex has been useful during the pandemic, it is now clear that the UFC needs to reduce the number of events at the complex. The lack of atmosphere and audience makes these events less attractive. The UFC deserves better atmospheres that will provide real excitement and encourage the creation of legendary moments.
