The UFC returned after a short break last weekend, but there was no great excitement before the event. UFC on ESPN 70 in Nashville didn't have any recognizable names, at least not for those who don't follow the sport regularly. However, those who know more about MMA could guess that there could be a few interesting fights. In the end, the event turned out to be more than good.
As is usually the case, Dana White had a thankless task when it came to choosing who would receive the bonuses. Only four fighters can get them, and it's no small thing to be left without an award after giving it your all.
When it came to the fight of the night, that award was deservedly taken by Nate Landwehr and Morgan Charriere. Both are known for not liking to calculate, and this time they gave the audience what they came for. Charriere, a fighter from France, ended the match with a brutal knockout right at the beginning of the third round. It was a real madness in the octagon. That knockout gave him his third UFC victory, while the American suffered his second loss in a row. However, no one expects the UFC to let go of a fighter who, regardless of the outcome, always provides a spectacle.
Bonuses left among the opening fights
Awards for "best performances of the night" also went to fighters from the opening matches. Fatima Kline delighted the audience when she finished off Melissa Martinez with a "high kick". On the other hand, Valter Walker, the younger brother of the famous Johnny Walker, once again showed how much he knows on the floor. He won for the third time in a row with a "heel hook", and this time Kennedy Nzechukwu was killed. Valter said in one of the interviews: "Johnny helped me financially until recently."
Although some expected Derrick Lewis, Mike Davis, Jake Matthews, Vitor Petrino or Tuco Tokkos to receive a bonus, the competition was too strong.
