UFC fans were left disappointed on Friday after the official weigh-ins for UFC 311. Arman Tsarukyan pulled out of his fight against Islam Makhachev due to a back injury. Few expected such a scenario, but unfortunately, the 28-year-old Armenian had to give up.
Renato Moicano became a new option for Islam Makhacev, who had no doubts about agreeing to a fight with him. The Dagestanian was open to such a fight, and we didn't have to wait long to see his brilliance.
On that occasion, Makhachev showed all his qualities and took advantage of the first opportunity that came his way, so he decided this match in his favor with a "guillotine".
Islam thus defended his title for the fourth time and set a record in his category. Some are questioning whether Tsarukyan will get another chance, and today White revealed what's next.
"I don't know what's next, but he won't get a title shot. He will have to fight for that opportunity again,'' Dana said, confirming that the 28-year-old UFC fighter must defeat his challengers in order to reach his goal.
Tsarukyan reacts
Tsarukyan didn't object to that, and even agreed with Dan. On his X profile, he also wrote who he wanted to fight against:
''I agree with Dan White. As soon as my back heals, I'll be ready to prove that I'm "I'm a true first contender by taking on anyone they put in front of me! Charles Oliveira in a 5 rounder makes the most sense," he wrote.
Considering he didn't beat Oliveira that convincingly, it's no wonder Tsarukyan is looking for a rematch. But is Oliveira Whether he is interested or the UFC has someone else in mind remains to be seen in the coming months.
It's hard to imagine how Tsarukyan feels at this moment, knowing that he had an ideal opportunity in front of him. However, the UFC is such that situations like this are often known happen. The Armenian will have to recover and prepare for what comes next.
