It would seem that Taylor Swift is here to stay as she has become a regular feature during Kansas City Chiefs matches, with the hope that this will all change in the future. Other observers, including ex-professional football player and current Monday Night Football commentator Troy Aikman, seem to embrace the presence of the pop star, while others criticize the world pop star for being publicity-hungry.
Troy Aikman was a guest on ‘The Sports Media with Richard Deitsch’s podcast, where he revealed that he would welcome Swift sitting in the TV booth with him. This season, the Churches have two more Monday Night Football games rest: on 7 October against the New Orleans Saints and on 4 November against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
"Are you freaking serious? We may accompany her upstairs," Aikman pitched in excitedly. "There's no question that if we could get her on to 'Monday Night Football,' we would do so, and I mean, we would do an interview with her.
We would have a seat for her, and she would have as much time as she wants. I say this now; my producer may not approve."
Taylor Swift Game Spotlight
Some segments of Swift fans have been criticized for being spotlight hawks whenever an NFL game is going on.
Her presence normally invokes a flurry of camera shots, especially when her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, is making some highlight play. This should not be surprising to anyone in the television industry because they know her status as a star.
Nonetheless, some of that backlash has made Aikman turn to high-fives. He thinks that her presence is opening up the world of the NFL to a new audience that would otherwise have been turned away from football. “I think it’s fair to say that a generation of people who probably wouldn’t have been given the chance to see the NFL has now been exposed to it, and that is good,” Aikman noted.
“Saying that, I think it is the case, I think it is fair, the NFL likes it. I just wish we had more Chiefs games”.
