Aspinall reveals the details of the negotiations
“I have spoken to the UFC a few times about this fight. I still want this fight. I have been on the phone with the UFC and made it clear that I want it, but I think Jon Jones is the one who is holding back the whole thing. That is true. The UFC really wants this fight because it is one of the biggest in the world of MMA. But it all comes down to whether Jon is comfortable enough with the financial side of the risk,” Aspinall said.
Going deeper into the situation, the young fighter from Britain noted that the UFC has assured him that they are doing everything they can to make the fight a reality. However, Jon Jones and his team are responsible for everything. "It's all up to Jon and his team now. I'm literally just waiting for the call. The thing that's holding me back at the moment, for me, is the financial side. But I'm not sure. I'm just waiting," Aspinall added.
In conclusion, Aspinall reiterated his desire to win the title, regardless of whether it's against Jon Jones or someone else. "I've said it before, I'll retire Jon Jones, even without a fight. Jon, let's do it. If you want the fight, you don't have to ask me twice. If not, I'll fight someone else for the real belt. Anytime, anywhere, it doesn't matter. I'm ready," Aspinall said.
