Last Friday, Sean Strickland drew attention when he appeared at a press conference in a tank top, and it was immediately clear that something was wrong with his left arm. A sign was noticed at the junction between the shoulder and triceps that indicated a possible infection, and many immediately assumed that it was staph, which can be very dangerous. Although Strickland claimed at the time that it was not an infection, he later admitted that he was infected and revealed the difficulties he went through in preparation for the fight.

Tough camp and internal struggle: It was difficult

Strickland is known for his ability to face great challenges, but this camp was especially painful. He spent seven weeks in Colombia undergoing stem cell therapy for a broken bone. Although the bone healed, problems with the staph infection followed him the whole way.

“The whole camp was torture. Even though I told myself I was fine, I wasn’t. I had a broken arm and an infection, and I couldn’t even get a clearance to fight until a week ago,” Strickland admitted on Instagram.

Strickland didn’t consider retiring, knowing it would be difficult to get another chance for a fight like this. Even though he didn’t have ideal circumstances, he decided to keep going and fight until the end.

Now, after all that, Strickland is thinking about the next challenges that await him. It will be interesting to see how he recovers and what his next step will look like. Although he is not happy with the outcome, it is clear that the fighter is not giving up. Even his trainer was not happy with his performance, which only speaks to how high the standards Strickland sets for himself.

We have no doubt that this great UFC fighter will give fans what they want, but now he needs to recover, calm down, and then get back to training and see what's next.
