Shavkat Rakhmonov pitched in the idea of fighting for the UFC interim welterweight title after Belal Muhammad announced his withdrawal from the title defense scheduled to take place on 10th December at UFC 310. Dana White and the UFC don’t seem to be too thrilled to entertain the idea of an interim welterweight belt.  Details about the replaced UFC 310 main event are yet to be announced publicly – either Shavkat will get a new opponent or his fight with Belal will get deferred to a later date. Shavkat wants Kamaru Usman as the replacement – it will be interesting to see if UFC can entertain any of his requests.

BREAKING: Belal Muhammad confirms he is OUT OF #UFC310 after contracting a bone infection in his toe. He will be on antibiotics for the next six weeks with no physical activity.

Shavkat Rakhmonov on Belal Muhammad’s injury

“We don’t know when Belal is going to be back, These kind of injuries, infections, they might say it’s six weeks, but look at JDM (Jack Della Maddalena). It took him a lot longer. It’s good for Belal, too, because it’s going to make the fight bigger. It’s going to be champ vs. champ, so whenever Belal is ready, after I secure the interim title, I’m going to fight him.”
