Ralf Schumacher, former F1 driver and analyst, shared his view of the current situation within the Red Bull team. According to him, Christian Horner, the boss of Red Bull Racing, was more interested in Franco Colapinto than drivers like Liam Lawson and Yuki Tsunoda. His statements produced a lot of reactions, as Tsunoda and Lawson were often believed to be the favorites for positions on the team, especially after Lawson's races with Red Bull.
Colapinto movement: Was he a good option?
Colapinto got his chance at Williams after filling in for Logan Sargeant, being quite impressive. Although many felt he could be the future of Red Bull, he ended up signing for Alpine as a reserve driver, with many question marks over heads.
Schumacher reflected on this change, stating that Red Bull should probably give Colapinto a chance as the Argentine has shown potential.
Conflicts and disagreements within the team
Schumacher also stressed that other drivers, such as Lawson, had problems within the team. Liam had a difficult start to the season, which led to his quick replacement, while Tsunoda, who was normally the third driver, was promoted to the first team.
All these changes were not met with positive reactions, and in particular they created uncertainty within the team, both within the driver's cabin and among the officials.
Schumacher points out that Horner actually preferred Colapinto, while Helmut Marko had his own preferences regarding other drivers.
Pressure on Christian Horner and Helmut Marko
Such problems also affected Max Verstappen, who is focused on winning, but the conflict and doubts within the team created pressure and unnecessary burden on him..
Yuki Tsunoda, who became Verstappen's new colleague, received support from the Red Bull officials and secured a place in the team until the end of 2025. Ralf Schumacher had no problem revealing the pressures within the team, and it's hard to predict what will happen in the future.
The situation within the Austrian team seems complicated and tense.
