When the NFL regular season began, the Pittsburgh Steelers revealed Russell Wilson as their first-string quarterback. Nonetheless, in spite of this announcement, Wilson has not yet played in the first two weeks of the game season.

The veteran QB has been out of the game nursing a chronic calf injury he picked up a few days to the first week and therefore was absent in the first games. Due to Wilson’s absence, Justin Fields was able to take command of the team and so far, the Steelers have won all the games played under him, starting with two victories.

The successful record of the team, however, cannot be attributed to the offensive unit under Fields, which has raised eyebrows from fans and analysts regarding the availability of Wilson's successor once he is deemed healthy to play.

Wilson Limited Practice Update

The latest information regarding Wilson’s recovery was made public on Thursday both from Wilson himself and on the team’s injury report. The team has officially reported that Wilson participated minimally in practice on Thursday.

Interestingly, he has been less active in practice and has not taken part in full practice since Wednesday of week one. During a media opportunity after practice, he maintained a positive approach regarding the extent of his rehabilitation.

Wilson pronounced, “I am surely making my way back. I feel fine,” as the observations of ESPN's Brooke Pryor have it. He continued, “It’s been nice to see that I was able to do a lot more work today, yesterday, so we’re getting better every day”.

Nonetheless, Wilson’s observations are actually repetitions of those which he made last week that followed with his sitting out during the weekend games. For now the Steelers are gearing up for another game with Fields as a starter and this provides a further opportunity for him to stake a claim on the position of the starter.
