Players have been eagerly awaiting the latest version of the popular video game Grand Theft Auto for years. Although the release date is still unknown, tension and frustration among fans are growing, while rumors about the possible launch of GTA 6 are increasingly common in the public.

Rockstar Games stands by its stance

Recently, we learned that the PC platform has experienced a huge increase in developer support. As many as 80% of respondents among 3,000 developers are currently developing games for the PC. However, Rockstar Games has decided to launch the latest sequel to its legendary game exclusively on consoles. Strauss Zelnick, the head of publishing house Take-Two Interactive, said that he believes that GTA 6 will be successful even without a simultaneous release on the PC platform.

“If you look at Civilization 7, we launched that game on consoles and PC right away. But when it comes to our other games, we don’t always go to all platforms at the same time. Rockstar has always had a practice of launching games on consoles first, and then delivering them to other platforms later,” Zelnick told IGN.

Zelnick also commented on the potential threats that could arise from the introduction of tariffs on imported products in the US. While he admitted that such changes will not make things easier, he is not worried about the impact on console sales or GTA 6.

While tariffs may make things harder, I expect console sales to grow significantly in 2025, thanks to the big titles that are coming, not only from us but also from other developers. Big titles sell consoles,” Zelnick said.

The PC platform is becoming increasingly important for Take-Two, and PC game sales already reach a significant share. Zelnick also points out that the PC market is constantly growing and that the trend is likely to continue.

But how will fans react to this news? While there will certainly be many negative reactions, the question remains whether Rockstar will change its decision. Regardless, there will still be great anticipation when it comes to the release of GTA 6.
