Anthony Edwards who plays for the Minnesota Timberwolves is considered by many as one of the top performers in the NBA. Some people have even gone as far as claiming that this player is the ‘next Micheal Jordan’.

However, not all support this claim, including former NBA player Rasheed Wallace. Recently, SB Nation has reported that during the Sheed & Tyler Show, Rasheed Wallace didn’t mince words when it came to the young nugget Edwards.

He does, however, state that Edwards is such talent who has much to come out to the masses. Further, Wallace is of the impression that, at this time, Edwards is really not on the levels that long small forward Derrick McKey was.

He proceeded to declare that for the present age of Edwards, he doesn’t possess complete wing player skills necessary to shine in the two phases of the game.

Wallace's Wake-Up Call

Wallace’s statements appear to be a wake-up call to all supporters of Edwards' accolades earned in recent years.

Edwards would go ahead to have a standout 2023-2024 season as he averaged a remarkable 25.9points, 5.4 rebounds and 5.1 assists in 33.8 minutes of play. Shooting wise, he had a clip of 46.1 percent from the field and all these factors helped the team in gaining success in Minnesota.

With Edwards playing at the highest level possible, the Timberwolves reached the playoff stage after several years. Unfortunately, they could not reach the finals, but the fans loved them. Most people think that the he pilotage's team will succeed in the future.

According to Wallace, although he has been amazing, there are areas that can be improved on, especially in terms of defense. However, this does not hold back the fact that young players are emerging, and Edwards is one of them, and one of the brightest promising talents in the league.

He still is on the rise and his chances of becoming the future face of the NBA are absolutely real. Doubtless, it is a long way to reach the summit for him now.
