PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan is an important link in the negotiations between the PIF and the PGA Tour, and many consider him a key man for the future of golf. Although he is not exactly a favorite figure among the fans, Monahan is determined to help the world of golf, wanting to jump together into a brighter future.

Before the start of the new PGA Tournament, the commissioner answered a reporter's question about the course of negotiations between the two parties, cautiously speaking about the entire process.

Jay Monahan admitted that they are ready to finish this story finally, but he does not want to make a mistake or make a final deal to the detriment of the PGA Tour. Jay doesn't want to damage his Tour.

“The talks are real, they’re substantial, and they’re being driven at the top levels of both organizations,” Monahan said, as reported by Irish Examiner.

“Our team is fully committed to reunification. The only deal that we would regret is one that compromises the essence of what makes the game of golf and the PGA Tour so exceptional.”

Monahan points out that the deal process is complex, with many obstacles in their way. However, he does not want to desecrate the relationship between the two parties, which was repaired two years ago with the framework agreement. Jay Monahan has enormous respect for the opposite side, aware that without compromise, agreement and togetherness there is no possibility of reaching a deal.

“When you’re in the midst of complex negotiations, particularly when you may be near a breakthrough, there are ebbs and flows in the discussion,” Monahan said.

“The most important thing is the mutual respect that we’ve built over the last couple of years.

We appreciate Yasir’s (Al-Rumayyan, PIF’s governor) innovative vision, and we can see a future where we welcome him on to our board and work together to move the global game forward. As part of our negotiations, we believe there’s room to integrate important aspects of LIV Golf into the PGA Tour platform. We’re doing everything that we can to bring the two sides together."- he concluded.
