Oleksandr Usyk, although a dominant fighter who has written the history of the sport, is motivated to take a step further and defend his title in Ukraine. Although it is difficult to achieve such a goal, given the war in the country, Usyk still dreams of it.
In an interview with Sky Sports, the experienced fighter emphasized how much he grieves for his daughter who is frightened by the horrors of war and falling shells.
"I don't think it's possible. Ukraine is fighting with Russia, a lot of missiles are falling on our country," the undefeated Ukrainian told Sky Sports.
"I'm talking to my daughter, who is 14 years old, and I ask her: 'Hey, how are you?' and she says: 'Dad, this night was terrible. Today I'm going to the shelter and I'm scared.' I tell her not to worry and that I'll be home tomorrow. It's a big problem."
Usyk's message
Although Usky wanted to defend his homeland and go to the front, he realized that with his boxing career and successes he could send a clearer answer: Ukraine still has its athletes and heroes! During the fights, the famous boxer supported DTEK, the largest Ukrainian energy firm and their 'Fight for Light'.
The director of this company emphasized how important Ambassador Usky is for Ukraine.
"This is not a sponsorship deal, it's just cooperation. This is our common fight for Ukraine, to keep the lights on in Ukraine," DTEK CEO Maxim Timchenko said.
"He is our key ambassador in this campaign. We are in the middle of an energy war, entire countries and millions of people depend on how we work, how much we can protect ourselves, how we can restore electricity production and how quickly we can respond to the huge damage that we have suffered since 2022."
This great fighter is one of the most important figures of this country.
