Michael Malone fired by Denver Nuggets!

The Denver Nuggets NBA team fired longtime coach Michael Malone, ESPN insider Shams Charania confirmed.

News that shocked many, but on the other hand, many expected this outcome, considering Denver's worse results in the past period. Although the club officials mostly points the finger at the coach, the fans have a slightly different opinion. However, coaches have always felt the greatest consequences of bad results. 

Michael Malone also experienced the same scenario.

The resignation came after four consecutive losses in games against Minnesota, San Antonio, Golden State and Indiana in the midst of the fight for the best possible position before the start of the NBA playoffs.

The Nuggets are currently fourth in the West at 47-32, with only three games remaining in the regular season. Michael has been on the Denver bench since 2015, and won the title in 2023. The new coach will be David Adelman, who was Malone's top assistant. General manager Calvin Booth was also fired.

Before coming to Denver, he was the head coach of the Sacramento Kings from 2013 to 2014, where he went 39-67 over two seasons. After being fired by Sacramento, he joined the Nuggets on June 15, 2015.

Coaching career

During his coaching career in Denver, Malone led the team to several notable successes, including a historic success in the 2020 playoff series when the Nuggets became the first team in NBA history to overcome a 1-3 deficit in two consecutive series (against the Utah Jazz and Los Angeles Clippers). Under his leadership, Nikola Jokić developed into a three-time MVP and NBA champion.

On November 24, 2024, Malone recorded his 433rd win as Nuggets coach, surpassing Doug Moe as the winningest coach in franchise history. He achieved this achievement with a 127:102 victory against the Los Angeles Lakers.

It is not known what intentions the leaders of this fiery club have and whether they have already thought about the next option for a coach. Malone will soon find a new job, there is no doubt about that.
