A gameplay preview of the new Mafia has arrived, the release date has been confirmed, and the price has been revealed, which will be significantly lower than the standard one.
The alleged release date that was leaked for Mafia: The Old Country turned out to be true – the game is indeed coming out on August 8th this year for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series. It seems that the game will only be available in digital form, but we are still waiting for confirmation of that.
The price of the game was also revealed today, which will be 50 euros for the standard edition, which is definitely lower than expected. However, publisher 2K Games initially stated that the price will reflect the durability of the game, and it is not designed to last as long as today's open-ended games.
“We think there is a large audience that is looking for quality stories without having to invest a massive amount of time. We are excited to offer a linear story experience that can be played in parallel with other longer-term games.” – said the president of 2K Games.
So, don't expect an open world and great freedom of movement from the new Mafia. The developer once again notes that it is a "focused and linear experience".
So what to expect? The first gameplay trailer has been released so you can see what it will look like. A turn to ride, a turn to sneak and shoot, a little driving and of course - crawling through tight spaces.
Story
After Tommy, Vita and Lincoln, the next protagonist in the Mafia series will be Enzo.
Enzo is a young Italian who didn't have a very happy childhood. He worked in a sulfur mine since he was a child, so when he is presented with a better opportunity to join Don Torrisi's family, Enzo accepts it with both hands. In return, he receives power and friendships, but also the obligation to sacrifice for the family.
In Mafia: The Old Country, we will follow Enzo's story from the beginning of the 20th century, at a time when Stiletto knives and bludgeons were everyday life in Sicily, at a time when mafiosi walked, rode and drove around Sicily. Unlike previous Mafia games, this one will not take place in an urban environment, but rather we will see more nature and for the first time in the series, horses will be used as a means of transportation.
