Dallas basketball player Kyrie Irving underwent successful surgery for an injury to his left knee, his club announced.

Irving (33) suffered an injury to the anterior cruciate ligaments of his left knee, without damage to other ligaments or the meniscus. According to the official announcement, the operation was performed at the Hospital for Specialized Surgery in New York.

The injury happened on March 3, in the first quarter of the game against Sacramento in the NBA league.

This great NBA player averaged 24.7 points, 4.8 rebounds and 4.6 assists per game this season.

Currently, the Dallas Mavericks are in 11th place in the Western Conference with 35 wins and 38 losses. The team hopes for a quick recovery and his return as soon as possible.

Dallas Maverick's statement

Back in early March this year, the club confirmed that the experienced basketball player suffered an injury that will keep him off the court for a long time.

"The Dallas Mavericks announced yesterday that Kyrie Irving sustained a left knee sprain against the Kings on March 3. Upon further medical evaluation, an MRI revealed a torn left knee ACL for Irving.

Irving will be listed as out with medical updates to follow as necessary."

The 32-year-old was fouled by DeMar DeRozan, and his absence is certainly a big blow for his team, considering that they have already had similar problems before. The departure of Luka Doncic was enough of a problem, and Irving's departure will only represent an additional blow. His colleagues had messages of support after all:

“That’s just who, I mean, Kai’s a tough guy,” Kidd said. “I asked him as they were taking him off the court, ‘Are you good if you leave without shooting? You’re ruled out.’ So they took him to the free-throw line, and he shot the free throws and then we got him out.”
