Another NASCAR season is behind us, and this year, we witnessed various moments just like the year before. NASCAR fans have mixed opinions about this season. While some feel that this season could have offered much more, many are satisfied with the outcome.

Joey Logano was the calmest, most focused this year as he managed to win the NASCAR Cup Series Championship for the third time.

During Kevin Harvick's Happy Hour, a well-known name in the NASCAR scene spoke about the NASCAR playoff system, given that many people were critical of him and the playoff system.

Logano believes that the playoff system is good, regardless of what some say about it. The 34-year-old gave an overview of some other sports that also have the same system, specific and unique in many ways. While some believe that this system brings a factor of surprise and excitement, others believe that it is not fair.

“I think it’s fine. I think it’s good. And I know I’m the minority of this and they’re probably saying too, ‘You just won the championship and you didn’t have the best regular season, of course, you’re on this side.’ I get it. But think about it from other sports’ perspectives. If you’re in the NFL, you can win every, go undefeated into the playoffs. It’s going to help you get seeded, but you could still lose the first game and you’re out. So, does that mean if you win the regular season you should just be locked to race for a championship? I don’t think so."- Logano said, as quoted by On3.

Joey Logano explains that the playoff system in NASCAR gives a big advantage to the drivers who had the best performance during the regular part of the season, but at the same time admits that it is very difficult to make up that advantage in only three races that are run in the playoffs.

The member of Team Penske is someone who has been a part of the NASCAR scene for seasons behind us and knows very well what it means to compensate for the huge difference compared to rivals. Logano, despite everything, showed his qualities this year in a great way, just like in previous seasons.

He stresses that the driver who was the best during the season should have some advantage over other drivers who had a weaker performance during the season, because this advantage should make their path to the championship easier. However, he points out that it is very difficult to overcome the difference of 15 points and the number of victories that the champion of the regular season probably achieved because it is almost impossible to make up for it all in just three races.

This confirms that each of the drivers must be equally impressive in every part of the season to appear on the throne. Logano is a man who knew what he had to do if he wanted to win the NASCAR Cup Series. The experience he had earlier, as well as the great individuals around him, and finally his qualities, are the reason why he found himself at the top this year as well. Joey has a recipe for defeating opponents.

Logano, on the other hand, points out that his team entered the playoffs with much fewer points, and that they do not have a "mulligan". Especially in the first two rounds of the playoffs, any driver can have a bad race, but that doesn't necessarily mean they'll be eliminated; a bad race can tie them with Logan, which means they're all tied for chances.

Logano admits that the drivers with a better performance during the season deserved their advantage, and it is there, but it is only part of the system that everyone agreed on before the start of the season.

NASCAR system

NASCAR has a specific system, which is similar to many sports in the US. Some are not happy with such a system, believing that NASCAR leaders would have to change something in the future. The lingering question is whether or not NASCAR executives will consider making changes.

For now, the most realistic option seems to be to keep things as they are. The situation on the NASCAR scene is extremely tense but equally interesting.

The fans of this sport raise their voices year after year, they want changes.

On the other hand, fans of Team Penske and Joey Logano are happy with the circumstances and the outcome, having no complaints about anything. Next year will certainly bring great excitement as well, and we will see if Logano can continue to do magical things and win 4 trophies.
