Joe Lauzon Breaks Silence on Fighting Again: “Maybe I’m done”

Joe Lauzon’s clock may finally come to an end, as he has entered the last phase of his career. Lauzon is a little flickery about retirement; there’s a chance for him to come for a showdown, and there’s also a strong chance for him to retire.

Lauzon has been out of the UFC for approximately 5 years; a fight with Chase Cooper could have materialized, but it didn’t. It will be interesting to see if the UFC gives Joe Lauzon one final match so that he can end his glorious career.

In a recent interview with MMA Fighting, Joe Lauzon shed some light on leaving the sport forever.

“Maybe I’ll fight again if something makes sense and maybe I’m done,” Lauzon said, as quoted by mmafighting.com. “It doesn’t make a lot of sense for them to go and give me a matchup that’s favorable to me, and I’m not going to take a matchup that’s not favorable for me.

So I’m just kind of stuck, I guess. I’m totally fine with it. The UFC’s been great to me. I’m not upset. I don’t feel like I’m stuck, like I’m locked or anything”.

Joe Lauzon reasons potential retirement

“It’s probably likely that I won’t fight again, but I hate when people say they go and retire, Because how many times do people retire, they say they’re retired, and the next thing you know, they’re announced on a card six months or a year later, or whatever it’s going to be.

I’m still training all the time. I’m still helping guys get ready for fights. I’m still running my gym. If they came and offered me something with ample time, I know I could get back in good shape really quick and I’d be good to go”.
