Jason Kelce, a former offensive lineman for the Philadelphia Eagles who recently joined the ranks of ESPN as an NFL analyst, also gave some talk to Sports Illustrated while promoting the brand's partnership with Kingsford Charcoal.
Having a passion for grilling, it was best to collaborate with Kingsford to ensure the fans are well equipped for any grilling event, be it a tailgating event or a BBQ with friends and family at home. With another NFL star, Vince Wilfork, Kelce was called the “King of the Grill” after perfecting the art of slow-cooked meat all day.
For Kelce, cooperation with Kingsford is the right decision. “It's a brand that I have been thinking about my whole life, and it will always remind me of football,” Kelce told Sports Illustrated. It is no surprise that a person who loves cooking is also the reason why Kingsford fits the retired football player perfectly.
Kelce Joins ESPN
In addition to his heavy participation on the field, Kelce is moving into his newest role at ESPN as an NFL analyst for Monday Night Football. Although this job requires him to look at each team in the league, Kelce has followed the Philadelphia Eagles closely with their new recruit running back, Saquon Barkley.
Kelce is of the justification that Barkley will considerably benefit the Eagles' offense. “If there was a run where you’d expect no gain or a loss, many of you will find Barkley breaking it,” Kelce stated.
“For instance he had no right scoring in Week 1, it looked like he was going down behind the line when all of a sudden, he is gone and going for a touchdown”. While enjoying life after football was completely satisfying most of the time, there were some mixed emotions, especially regarding the issue of such a time frame as the one in which Barkley came.
“There’s always something that I have to say to Howie. Why wait until I have retired to bring in a piece like this?” he said. “The last running back I played with at this level was LeSean McCoy. Darren Sproles has been great, but I got to him just toward the end of his career. Saquon would have been nice to block for”.
