Alexander Volkanovski doesn’t treat idleness very well; he looks forward to showing up for the upcoming UFC featherweight title fight between Ilia Topuria and Max Holloway – scheduled to take place on 27th October at UFC 307.

If needed, Volkanovski said that he’s ready to step in. Ilia Topuria is totally against this idea and offers Volkanovski a piece of advice: ‘rest.’ The winner of this fight is most likely going to share the cage with Volkaonvski, who has currently strangled himself to a tough 2-match losing/knockout streak.

Ilia Topuria on Alexander Volkanovski considering backup role

In a recent interview, Ilia Topuria explained how Alexander Volkanovski should take more rest and avoid fighting or considering a backup role.

“Listen, I don’t know (if that’s a good idea),” Topuria said, as quoted by mmajunkie.usatoday.com. “He wants to get knocked out every year. Twice, maybe someone has to give him good advice. He needs some rest.

I’m telling you, he needs some rest. His head at least”.

Ilia Topuria on fighting anyone

“My business and my job is to fight, no matter who is in front of me, I’m the world champion. I had my preferences before that I wanted to fight people who was next to me in the rankings, to get my chance to fight for the title as soon as possible.

But now, when I’m the world champion, I don’t care. Give me a name. Give me a place. I’m going to give you a masterpiece of mixed martial arts”.
