Kyle Busch can't take many positives from last season, considering he finished winless. It was a big blow for a driver of his qualities, who is used to much better results. However, he expects a different scenario this year, hoping to be more competitive and achieve better performances.
Speaking to FOX Sports' Bob Pockrass, the veteran driver shared his thoughts on the upcoming season, stressing that they need to start winning to get back on track. For Busch, who is used to being at the top, the current situation seriously worries him.
Kyle Busch reacts
He is not happy with the high number of DNFs (did not finish) from last season, as well as some of the other problems that spoiled his plans, including technical difficulties and problems with pit stops.
“I would say you gotta win, right?” Busch said as quoted by On3.
“Unfortunately, we weren’t able to win last year. So, being able to get back to Victory Lane, being able to build on some consistency. Getting those top-fives, top-tens, getting that number higher than what it was [last] year is definitely, paramount. Had a rough summer last year, had a lot of DNFs in that stretch that kind of brought us outside the playoff rank and being able to get ourselves in contention. So, definitely want to have a lot better sense of all of that, earlier in the year would be better, but it’s always a long year and you’ve got to fight it out every week.”
Watching his performances last year, it seemed as if he lacked motivation or perhaps was tired. Although he continued to show great fighting spirit, he often seemed to struggle to maintain his rhythm throughout the season. In 2025, RCR wants this experienced driver to take a huge step forward and become competitive for victories again. The team is aware of his talent and experience, but all this will not be enough without great results.
