Filip Hrgovic's victory still provokes reactions from the public and important figures in the world of boxing. Gareth A Davies, a well-known journalist, looked back at the last match between Hrgovic and Joyce, with the Croatian fighter celebrating in that match. Davies pointed out that Joyce looked great, but Hrgovic showed more quality, and won on points.
- It was a good performance by Joyce, although he clearly lost. He showed everything that is expected of him. He started strong, attacked and did not lose heart, but he received too many blows from Hrgovic, who is currently the sixth or seventh heavyweight in the world. Hrgovic collected more points, I think Joyce lost by two rounds, I would not say that the difference was as big as some say, but there was no question that it was Hrgovic's victory - said Davies.
Davies shares his view
Joey, on the other hand, showed his teeth, and looked dangerous at many moments during the match. The Croatian fighter used every moment to spoil his opponent's plans, and finally succeeded in doing so. He feels that Joyce put in a huge effort but in the end he was not rewarded for his performance.
- Joyce fought, he was not pressed against the wall, he forced the fight, and Hrgović was worried about the cut he had and mostly fought from the ropes. He got to him too many times, for whom this is his fourth defeat in his last five fights. He took a lot of damage from Derek Chisora, as well as in his two losses to Zhilei Zhang, especially in the second one when he ended up badly knocked out. This is a signal that his rise has stopped, and this was proven even against Kash Ali, when he also did not look incredible. As I said, we can't take anything away from the effort Joyce put into this fight, it was a good performance, but I would like him to retire, although I'm afraid he won't because he loves all this and is addicted to it.
