Zane Smith has decided to turn over a new leaf in his career and become part of Front Row Motorsports starting this season. Although he was part of this team before, the parting happened in 2023. The arrival of such a great reinforcement could be a big deal for this perspective team, which looks to the future optimistically.

Front Row GM Jerre Freeze stressed how strange it is that this 25-year-old is part of the team again. Freeze pointed out that after a great season in the truck championship, Smith got a chance, but the events of that season meant that Zane had to be patient. The GM of this team expects that the young driver will use the chance and show that he is a driver who really deserves to be part of this story.

“I think it’s just so ironic that you know, a year and a half ago, Zane is driving for us,” Freeze said, as quoted by On3.

“We had just come off the heels of a truck championship and he was ready to go Cup racing for sure. He was driving a few Cup races for us in the 2023 season. But we only had two cars, you know, two Cup cars and two charters, and we kind of liked the two guys we had at the time; Michael McDowell and Todd Gilliland.

We just didn’t have a place for Zane, you know, and we really tried to talk him into driving the truck another year, but he was ready to move on.”

FRM's future

Although this team was in a difficult situation, considering that they did not know if they would be able to perform at all this year, the judge decided that they can continue to be part of NASCAR from the 2025 season. This outcome gave the leaders an additional motivation to prove themselves in the current year and try to achieve even better results. What do you think? Do they have the capacity to succeed in this?
