The atmosphere within Ferrari's camp is upbeat after the conclusion of the pre-season testing held in Bahrain from Wednesday to Friday. Team principal Fred Vasseur emphasized that the Italian team had put in a tremendous amount of effort to develop this car, and he is hopeful for an improved performance compared to the 2024 season.
Vasseur is clear about Ferrari's goals for the upcoming season, stating that both world titles are within their sights.
"It's difficult to assess the competitive balance here in Bahrain. The conditions changed a lot from day to day and from morning to afternoon. This test was actually more similar to the conditions in Las Vegas than the Bahrain we are used to," Vasseur explained.
"We've been working hard over the past six months on this car and have made significant improvements, but we won't really know where we stand until we get to Melbourne. The situation there will be quite different," he added.
"We aim to win both championships. We believe our drivers can achieve that goal, and the atmosphere within the team is very positive. We'll continue to work hard to make sure we're fully ready for the season in two weeks," said Vasseur confidently.
Last year's results
Last season, Ferrari finished second in the constructors' championship. The title, after 26 years, went to Woking, with Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri securing the crown for McLaren in a dramatic finish.
McLaren clinched the title in the final race of the season in Abu Dhabi, edging out Ferrari by just 14 points. Everyone at Maranello hopes that the addition of seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton will help them return to the top of the standings.
The experienced Briton will be under immense pressure, and it will be interesting to see how Lewis will cope in his new role. Wearing the Ferrari jersey is a huge responsibility, but the question is whether Hamilton can be as superior as he was a few seasons ago, when he won the title year after year.
