Famous WWE figure Drew McIntyre recently spoke with PWInsider about various topics in the wrestling world, and inevitably, CM Punk was a major focus. CM Punk is a wrestler who has garnered a lot of attention and provoked controversy throughout his career, making his name a common topic in interviews. McIntyre admitted that even outside of his professional career, he finds CM Punk’s behavior somewhat frustrating, especially during Punk’s return to the company.

McIntyre understands WWE's decision to bring Punk back, knowing how much attention Punk could attract and what he could mean for the company. Upon Punk’s arrival, Drew already had some plans and ideas about what the future might look like and what his intentions regarding CM Punk were.

“I mean, if I had a chance to really think about it, initially, I was pretty annoyed (that CM Punk returned to WWE), but I understand business and I understand why it was done. But, I found it interesting that everybody started going, ‘Oh, it’s obviously going to be this, or obviously going to be this guy.’ I was sitting there thinking, there’s a lot of real history here, and a lot of real feelings I’ve got and if I get the opportunity, I know we could tell the most compelling story of all, because no matter my real feelings, I’m still a professional, you know?"- Drew McIntyre said.

He emphasized that both he and CM Punk remain professionals and that they have been given the opportunity to showcase their creative abilities to the world. McIntyre highlighted that WWE’s creative team, led by Triple H, encourages pushing creative ideas to their fullest extent. The goal is to produce authentic emotions and make the audience believe in the storyline. McIntyre pointed out that creating a believable and engaging story is easier when the performers invest in what’s happening on-screen, both emotionally and professionally.

CM Punk reacts

CM Punk has frequently shared his thoughts on Drew McIntyre, and recently the focus was on their upcoming match, which fans are anticipating. The match will feature two phenomenal wrestlers in the ring, but only one will emerge victorious.

The 45-year-old wrestler is also frustrated with Drew McIntyre due to their past confrontations. CM Punk vividly recalls the times when McIntyre intentionally provoked him to elicit a reaction. A few weeks ago, Drew McIntyre stated that CM Punk is not a wrestler who can be a leader. Punk is not particularly bothered by this comment, as he never considered himself a leader in the first place.

CM Punk admits that his focus is on achieving success in wrestling, without paying too much attention to individuals like Drew. Fans know CM Punk as someone who speaks his mind openly, which can sometimes lead to negative consequences. Despite this, Punk has consistently stated that he is honest and respectful of others, but he does not tolerate attempts to undermine or provoke him.

CM Punk on his injury and goals

The former AEW wrestler set clear goals when he joined WWE, aiming to show off his impressive talent and skills. Although he's already a familiar face to WWE fans, it's evident that CM Punk has grown significantly over the years. He wants to prove that his previous time away was an opportunity for him to make a major comeback in wrestling.

45-year-old wrestler had long hoped for this moment, and his injury earlier in the year was a frustrating setback. During his recovery, he took a lot of time to reflect on his career and came up with new ideas and strategies for the future. While fans often expect bold moves and controversies from him, it seems like Punk is now considering a different approach than he has in the past.

“I’m extremely pumped. It’s been a long road to get back to WWE. We obviously have had our problems, I’ll say. To come back and get injured in January was pretty crushing. It gave me a lot to do in rehab. Being able to refocus and really seize the opportunity that I’ve been given.”-he said.

The return to WWE was not initially part of the experienced wrestler’s plan. He had been considering his future and the options available to him, knowing he needed to seize the opportunity that came his way. Interestingly, this skillful wrestler was somewhat relieved by Vince McMahon’s departure, as it made his return to the company smoother and opened the door for him to come back to a place where he had previously achieved great things. It will be interesting to see how things unfold and to gauge how motivated he  is to succeed this time around.
