After the Dallas Mavericks traded Luka Dončić, the franchise from Texas found itself in a huge problems. In a trade for Dončić, they got Anthony Davis, with the hope that he will strengthen the interior line of the team. Expectations were high, especially since he, PJ Washington, and centers Dereck Lively and Daniel Gafford were there. However, things soon went wrong.

Injuries began to affect all key players, and playoff ambitions became an increasingly distant reality. Kyri Irving was injured, and that wasn't the end either. Olivier-Maxence Prosper was injured, and all these injuries further complicated the season.

Dante Exum's injury

Dante Exum, who played as a starting point guard after Irving's injury, suffered a season-ending injury to his left hand. This injury, given that Exum is a free agent, could mean the end of his chances of signing a contract with a new team. He played only 17 games this season, averaging 9.5 points, 1.8 rebounds and 2.9 assists.

Hopes for the Dallas Mavericks

With the number of injuries that have hit Dallas, it's now all up to general manager Nick Harrison. Although the trade with Dončić may have caused a curse, the team must hope that the next season will bring a better outcome. If key players stay healthy, the Mavericks will have a chance to bounce back.

They are currently in 10th place with a score of 33-35 and still have 14 games to go. However, the Phoenix Suns are likely to overtake them, knocking Dallas out of the play-off zone.

It will be interesting to follow the rest of the season and see what we can really expect from this team. Although they have a lot of potential, it is still unclear whether they will really make important steps in the coming weeks and achieve their goal. The competition is fierce, there is no doubt about that, but Dallas is a club that really has the potential for great things.

The coach could now be the main link in this story.
