The match between Jake Paul and Canelo was originally scheduled for May, but it all fell through just a day after it was announced. The main reason for this unexpected outcomes were the agreement between Canelo and Turki Alalshikh. The whole situation leading up to that moment was actually part of Canelo's negotiating strategy. This outcome caused quite a negative reactions in the boxing world, especially among Jake Paul fans.

Strategy and negotiations

Although Canelo managed to achieve what he wanted, the same can be said for Turki. That was all Jake Paul wanted to avoid, as he clearly saw how much importance winning this fight would bring him. Canelo managed to get everything he needed, but now Paul has to be patient and wait for his chance.

Paul immediately publicly called out Canelo, calling him a “money hungry squirrel”. But while it's clear that this was a blow to Paul, his motivation hasn't disappear. He knew that a fight with a famous boxer could be extremely important for his career.

Yesterday, UFC President Dana White stressed he was not surprised by the move. He believes that the Saudis currently dominate the boxing world and that it is not difficult for them to attract any fighter, even Jake. "The Saudis control boxing right now. I don't think it is difficult for them to steal anyone from anyone. I am not fully aware of the details of this deal, but I am sure that it is not too difficult to steal someone from Jake Paul and Most Valuable Promotions, especially the Saudis. They are completely different levels. They are not even part of the same universe, let alone on the same level," Dana said at a press conference after UFC 312.

The Saudi capital is greater than that of Paul, but not everyone is in the same position as Canelo. Many fighters have earned large sums with Jake, but, as Dana said, what the Saudis have to offer is simply on a completely different level. Canelo, on the other hand, not only has greater financial power in this deal, but also great sporting advantages that will ensure him competitive fights with important opponents.

Jake remains motivated and determined to face this great boxing star. While it's unclear when that will happen, the fight could be a huge opportunity for him.
