Since the summer of 2021, Conor McGregor has not been seen in the UFC cage, and there was no mention that he could return to fighting. That period was marked by his loss to Dustin Poirier in the first round, which shocked everyone, especially when he suffered a leg injury during the fight. However, it should be stressed that this is not his first defeat in that series, as he already suffered a defeat against Poirier six months before that.

Apparently, McGregor was supposed to start the fight with Michael Chandler, who was the opponent after they agreed on "The Ultimate Fighter" series.

However, after a long wait and hesitation, Chandler decided to continue without McGregor, which made it clear to many that McGregor's return to the Octagon wasn't that realistic scenario.

After yesterday's statement at the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship (BKFC) press conference, we understand more.

What to expect from Conor McGregor in the future?

"My heart bleeds for my country, but now I have something much more important. I have done so much in my career and I am happy with everything. My comeback will not be ordinary, it will be the biggest comeback in history, but everything has to be perfect. Right now, all I can think about is Ireland," McGregor said.

This great fighter has announced his candidacy for the presidential election in Ireland, which will be held in November this year. Considering that he will turn 37 this year, it is hard to believe that he will return to the cage during that period. Any return and preparation for a fight in the UFC would be quite demanding for his body, which has gone through a lot of injuries.

Interestingly, although McGregor has retired from the fighting world, he is still active in other fields.

He recently became a co-owner of BKFC, which is his way of entering the world of fight promotion and management. We will probably see him in a new role soon, perhaps as a promoter, but as a fighter.
