Red Bull team started the 2025 season with problems that date back to last year. Unfortunately, Max Verstappen once again proved to be the only competitive driver in the team, while the rest of the line-up, including Liam Lawson, didn't achieve their goals.

It seems that the situation will be different in the next weeks, as the driving line-up could be changed.

Problems with the car and drivers

The first two race weekends of this year have produced new difficulties for Red Bull. The RB21 car did not meet expectations, and Max Verstappen managed to reach a high position only thanks to the rainy weather and accidents on the track in Australia. However, during the Chinese Grand Prix it became clear that Red Bull needs to put in a lot of effort to get back to the top. Max finished third in the sprint and fourth in the main race, but was quite far from the winner Oscar Piastri.

Although the Dutchman holds second place in the drivers' championship, only eight points behind Lando Norris, the situation in the constructors' standings is not great. Red Bull are in third place, already 42 points behind McLaren.

Liam Lawson's poor results are the main problem, since after two races without points it has become clearly he isn't that great option for his team. The young driver should be replaced soon, and it seems that Yuki Tsunoda will take his place.

That is why they decided to act quickly, remembering the bad decisions last year when the team lost the constructors' title.

Changes needed and new challenges

Although team boss Christian Horner stresses that the public should not write Red Bull off too quickly, the situation is not that great.

Team principal said:

"McLaren showed last year that it is possible to have a bad start and still be competitive."

However, Horner stressed that having two drivers scoring points is crucial for the team to achieve their goals. He also emphasizes that they will continue to work on improving the car to ensure a return to the fight for both titles.
