The Kansas City Chiefs managed a key fourth-down stop in the last moments of the game against the Atlanta Falcons, but Chris Collinsworth commented that the Kansas City Chiefs may have benefited from a mistake by the officials.
With the help of the fans, Atlanta managed to reach Kansas City’s 6-yard line and fumbled their chance to score a last-minute equalizer as they were trailing 22-17 with only a few seconds left on the clock. In such a moment, Kirk Cousins, the Quarterback for the Falcons went all out and made an end zone connection to Garayum, only to be intercepted by Cook to keep the Chiefs in the lead.
Collinsworth Questions Call
Speaking about Cook during the game, Collinsworth did not see any indiscipline from the player; however, he felt that Cook may have got lucky on that occasion. On the replay, Collinsworth weighed in on the contact made with London and suggested it should be classified as offensive pass interference.
“That was a perfect case of pass interference coverage,” Collinsworth responded and further added that if the team ciders missed that ruling, He wasn’t the only one with such views – some sports analysts went to social media to announce that he was right, and this time, the Chiefs got lucky not to have a penalty recommendation that could have changed the course of the game.
A sports reporter Ari Meirov joined the conversation on X, stating “Tough look for this not to be DPI on the Chiefs”. Still, even after the missed call, the Falcons were able to stop the Chiefs on their next drive and force them to punt, giving themselves one last opportunity to win the game.
This, however, didn’t materialize as they fell short on yet another fourth-down conversion attempt which killed off the game for the Kansas City Chiefs with less than a minute to go. The Chiefs were lucky to win the game in the end, but the one call that went wrong is still a point of concern, with many assuming that, what if the referees decided to throw the flag during a game and change the series of events.
