Last week, the world of combat sports was taken aback by the news of the retirement of one of the greatest - Jon Jones. While many expected the announcement of the fight against Tom Aspinall, which would decide the undisputed champion of the UFC heavyweight division, the completely opposite news appeared; the experienced 37-year-old decided to hang up his gloves.
"Bones" himself posted an emotional farewell message, and at the same time fighters, trainers, journalists and analysts poured in words of praise for the Octagon legend. However, it did not take long, and the public received new shocking information.
According to the local Albuquerque Journal, Jones was allegedly involved in a car accident on February 21 of this year, after which he fled the scene. It turned out that there was a half-naked woman in the vehicle under the influence of alcohol, who told the police that she had been drinking and consuming mushrooms at Jones' home. "The last thing I remember is the crash," she said.

Last night, a police officer who arrived at the scene of the accident also released a video of a dashcam. The video shows a distraught woman repeatedly repeating through tears that her friend who had “disappeared” was driving the vehicle. At one point, she called the man on her cell phone and handed the device to the officer. “That’s Jon Jones,” she said.
Then, a voice on the other end is heard making serious threats: “My brothers cut throats and kill people for a lot less than this. You won’t be the first guy I’ve threatened this year, I swear to God. If anything happens to me, man, she’s dead.”
When asked directly if they were talking to Jones, the voice did not confirm.
His lawyer, Christopher Dodd, claims the case was fabricated: “My client was not in that car. That woman is using his name to get away with it.”
Is the MMA legend really done with his career? Or is this an attempt to avoid new legal troubles? We may soon find out the answers, but it is already clear there are a lot of questions.
