Charles Barkley Criticizes TNT Future Plans for 'Inside The NBA'

Recently, Charles Barkley expressed his displeasure with a TNT for his uncertainty regarding the fate of Inside The NBA. A trademark of the network. While the network is set to lose it NBA media rights after the year 2024-25, Barkley shall still be with the network due to the 10 year contract extension that he signed in 2022.

Even so, the fate of the show that has gone for over two decades is still in limbo. Barkley shared his fear of absent planning by the staff members of TNT in an interview with Bill Simmons. “I have zero idea what we’re gonna do,” Barkley said.

What makes it even funnier is that they don’t even have any idea what we’re gonna do. There, Mr. Barkley refers to a meeting held in Philadelphia, where on the way to more shows, TNT executives were eager to explain.

“They’re like, ‘They want to keep y’all together.’ I would think about that because I try to get all my friends to have jobs. But when I asked, ‘What are we going to do?’ I heard, ‘It is yet to be worked out.’ I’m like, ‘What?’”

Barkley Questions Future

The iconic commentator mentioned the burden of doing the show without the NBA.

“There is going to be no basketball. What the hell are we going to do?” Barkley said. “We will lose the NBA. Probably they want to shoot the show at least for a year more, what for? But I’m like, we don’t even have basketball.

We are going to use highlights then”. There have been speculations that the focus of the show will be to share snippets hence the evolution of the show is set to be a general theme. Barkley himself disclosed that he was given offers from media houses like NBC and Amazon that were more than $100 million, but he chose to remain with TNT.

He explained that it was due to loyalty to the crew that he was able to do that. “It was a good feeling, and I appreciate all those networks that called to thank me. But as long as I got my people safe at TNT, I feel very good,” Barkley stated.
