Recently, Daniel Dubois and his team demanded a rematch against Oleksandr Usyk, but after that, the WBO ordered the Ukrainian to fight interim champion Joseph Parker. This is a great opportunity for Parker, who definitely deserved this fight. Now the question remains whether both sides will be able to agree on all the conditions for the fight.

The British fighter had his chance against Usyk back in the summer of 2023, when he was unfortunately defeated. At the end of that fight, Oleksandr knocked out Dubois, but the fight itself was marked by controversy due to the blow that Dubois sent Usyk to the floor. Some still believe that it was not a blow below the belt, while others claim the opposite. Regardless, the 27-year-old still lost the fight. Famous promoter Bob Arum stated that Dubois simply “gave up” after hitting Usyk.

‘‘It was, without a doubt, an illegal blow. Maybe the referee allowed Usyk too much time to recover. I watched it on TV, it was a low blow. In a way, it seemed to me that Dubois just gave up after that punch. I don’t know why he did it,” Arum told iFL TV.

Since that fight, Daniel has shown great improvement, especially on a mental level. Although he was often criticized before for his lack of grit and combativeness, he now seems like a completely new fighter. Many are surprised by his transformation into a fighter who now shows aggression and determination.

Will Daniel get another chance?

Usyk has promised to finish his career with two more fights, and a fight against Parker seems like a very likely option. Given the circumstances, the question is if and when a rematch between Oleksandr and Dubois will happen, but it is clear that the bout between Usyk and Parker is a step towards that. Daniel, who has already shown his progress, is certainly hoping that he will have the opportunity to prove himself again and perhaps seek revenge.

If the rematch between Usyk and Dubois happens, we can expect much more excitement than there was in the first match, as British fighter is now mentally stronger and ready for another title.
