The much-awaited heavyweight clash between Ciryl Gane and Alexander Volkov was scheduled for UFC 308, but it has now been postponed to UFC 310. An injury forced Alexander Volkov to withdraw from the originally scheduled event.
Concrete details about the injury are yet to be disclosed publicly. But nothing much to worry about for fans who were looking forward to this fight. So strike the 26th October date, Volkov and Gane will now face each other on 7th December.
The rematch is a crucial one because Gane, a former interim UFC Heavyweight Champion, looks to prove he belongs near the top of the heavyweight division following a title loss against Jon Jones and on the other hand, Volkov, currently on a solid 4 match winning streak, looks for redemption against Gane, who delivered a unanimous decision win over him in June 2021.
The delay can be looked at as a positive.
The injury will allow both contenders to train even harder and put on a show like never before.
