Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers and the New York Jets can breathe a sigh of relief as there is good news regarding the injury of starting right tackle Morgan Moses. This news comes just two days after what initially appeared to be a severe injury scare.

Moses went down late in the third quarter during the Jets’ dominant 24-3 victory over the New England Patriots on Thursday Night Football. The injury happened when both quarterback Aaron Rodgers and Patriots edge rusher Josh Uche tumbled on Moses’ lower leg.

Although the incident replay heightened concerns, those fears have been eased. Sidelined for an MCL sprain and bone bruise, Moses will likely only miss two to four weeks, according to NFL insider Ian Rapoport. This is a much better outcome than initially feared, especially with the words tough schedule outlook.

On game day, the Jets are scheduled to face the Denver Broncos within the next four weeks, followed by the Minnesota Vikings. The Buffalo Bills, and finally, the Pittsburgh Steelers, making Moses’ possible absence pretty relevant.

Fashanu Steps Up

Instead, the Jets 2024 first-round rookie Olu Fashanu played at right tackle. He found himself in actual game time for the first time and caught several eyes within the team. “Almost evicted together.

It was a luxury when[and] how forwards step. You are sending out a first-round pick,” said Jets head coach Robert Saleh. “He did good; he has been getting a lot of reps and practices”. Saleh pointed out that there was trust in Fashanu: “He’s another guy that we expect to see improving week in and week out." When the time comes for the Jets to take on the Broncos next Sunday, the offensive line is expected to consist of Fashanu and Tyron Smith at the tackle positions and John Simpson and Alijah Vera-Tucker at the guard positions, with Joe Tippmann at Center.

Tippmann, who was picked in the second round of the 2023 draft, has quickly established himself as a key contributor to the team, raking in an 85.8 PFF grade, which is second on the team only to one against the Patriots.
